September 11, 2012 (San Francisco) – College Inn® broth invites at-home chefs to enter their family recipes into the first-ever College Inn Ultimate Recipe Challenge Contest between September 10, 2012 and October 28, 2012.

The at-home chef with the most flavorful recipe will be awarded a $5,000 cash prize. The grand prize winner will also receive a trip for two to San Francisco to attend a celebrity chef-studded No Kid Hungry® charity dinner as the guest of Chef Amanda Freitag, a recurring judge on the Food Network series Chopped.

In addition to these great prizes, College Inn has pledged to donate $1.00 (up to $20,000) towards the Share Our Strength® No Kid Hungry® campaign, a national effort to end childhood hunger in America, for each eligible recipe entry received.

“No child should go hungry and each child deserves the chance to have fond memories of food, which is why I am proud to be part of the College Inn Ultimate Recipe Challenge Contest,” said Chef Amanda Freitag. “I still remember the beef stew and mashed potato recipe my father would make in his favorite Dutch oven. The aromas that would fill our home were almost as satisfying as the finished product and it still warms my heart, body and soul every time I make it."
College Inn, known for their great tasting broth and premium ingredients like plump chicken and farm-grown vegetables, encourages at-home chefs to put a twist on family recipes that have been passed down from previous generations using College Inn broth as part of the foundation.
“College Inn broth encompasses the perfect balance of herbs and spices, creating a flavor beyond your standard tasting broth,” said Peter Bushbaker, Brand Manager, College Inn. “We’re excited to hear what recipes at-home chefs grew up with and how they revitalized the flavors in these dishes with College Inn broth.”
