Teriyaki Hamburger Beef Jerky

This was so good!!  It was completely gone in just a few days, much to my dismay!  I know!  I would of liked to take some to work you know!  Alas, I was so happy that my family enjoys this.  It's budget friendly, super easy, healthy and most of all, you don't need to go to the dentist after consumption!

Ready for this very simple recipe?  Here we go;

Yield: 2lbs
Prep: 10 minutes
Cook: (dehydrate) 7-8 hours

This is the tool (gun) that I use to make this jerky.  I bought it many years ago at Walmart, but it's readily available online.  It comes with two attachments, the flat end for the actual strip jerky, and a smaller one that you can make beef sticks.

Ingredients:
2lbs ground beef (I used the 93/7% ratio)
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp onion powder
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/4 cup Teriyaki sauce
2 tbsp soy sauce (I used sodium reduced)
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Directions:
-In your stand up mixer bowl, add your meat and spices along with sauces.  Mix on medium high for 3-5 minutes, or till the ground beef is almost like a dough.  If you don't have a stand up mixer, I would stomp my feet and refuse to cook till someone bought me one. However, if you don't have one, just knead the ground beef till it's uniform in consistency.  Place in refrigerator and let the flavors marry for about half an hour.

-Place meat mixture into the jerky gun and begin to make strips directly on your dehydrator rack.  Continue with the rest of the meat mixture.

See what I mean by dough like, how uniform it is?

2lbs of ground beef used up 4 racks of the dehydrator, which is standard.

-Place your dehydrator on jerky setting and let that baby go to work!

-After about 7 hours, check for doneness.  I like to take it out after about 7-1/2hrs. I like it crisp, obviously, but not like paper. Quick, grab a couple before the kids come in the kitchen!  What?

Once cool, place in a ziplock bag and keep in the refrigerator.  I highly suggest hiding the dang things!!  *grin*

Till next time!!

  4. Some manufacturers of jerky use additives to help preserve the flavor of the meat, whereas others pride themselves and make an effort to make a beef jerky as natural as humanly possible.

  8. How long will they stay good out of the refrigerator? I prefer to not refrigerate, and keep in my bag to carry with me on the go.

    1. Hello anonymous!
I have just brought it for lunch, never kept it out all day. Just took a few pieces for my lunch and they were delicious and still cold from my lunchbag. I hope that helps.

  9. Making beef jerky at home is surprisingly simple and inexpensive, with the added benefit of being able to include your favorite flavors. With nothing more than an oven and a few ingredients you can make delicious beef jerky yourself without any additives or preservatives, just the way you want it. Work on jerky
